May 7, 1973 - Reds sneak past Phillies in 12!
The Phillies outhit the Reds 15 to 7, but it's the runs that count. Cincinnati had one more of those, defeating Philadelphia 7 to 6 in twelve innings.
It was patience that won the game for Cincy in the end as Mac Scarce had control problems and issued four walks and a wild pitch in the top of the twelfth to allow the Reds a pair of go ahead runs.
Philly rallied in the bottom half, but Tom Hall was able to work out of trouble and seal the deal.
Denis Menke earns player of the game honors, driving in the eventual winning run with one of his four walks on the day!
