May 8, 1973 - Rain forces bullpens to go the distance as Angels blow out Cleveland!

Heavy rain in the bottom of the first cut short a scheduled start for Clyde Wright just as he finished warming up, and two hours later is was Lloyd Allen who threw the first pitch to Walt Williams.

Fortunately for California, they had already put up five runs against starter Gaylord Perry, and they would add on some insurance in the fifth and sixth to make this rain swept game a blowout before some very faithful tribe fans, only about 400 of whom braved the weather to watch their team get crushed 12 to 1.

Bob Oliver, apparently an amphibian, hit two home runs and drove in five runs in the route.

Walt Williams had three of Cleveland's six hits in the losing effort.
