May 6, 1973 - White doubles in pair, gets beaned, Yankees out-slug Sox!

Roy White doubled home two in the third inning to give the Yankees an early lead, and next time up he took a heater in the ribcage and left the game as a precaution for x-rays.

Steve Kline couldn't hold the lead, giving up 6 runs in the sixth to let the White Sox within one. Ed Hermann's 6th homer anchored the big inning.

After Chicago tied the game in the 7th on Bill Melton's RBI double, it was Johnny Callison, subbing for the injured White, who knocked in the go ahead run with a base hit.

Fred Beene got the win in relief, and Lindy McDaniel picked up his 1st save.

Carlos May was 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs.
