Bobby Tolan blasted a grand slam in the third to help the Reds to a 5-0 lead they never relinquished.
On the mound, Jack Billingham went the distance to pick up his second victory. He allowed just 1 run on seven hits and struck out five.
Pete Rose continued to rake - 3 hits in 4 at bats raised his league leading batting average to .422.
Mike Torrez pitched just five innings and fell to 1-4. Ken Singleton had a pair of hits for the 'spos.
