Claude Osteen took a 1-hitter into the 7th inning and a shutout into the 9th, and barely managed to escape disaster - a bases loaded jam by getting William Stein to ground back to the mound to end the drama and preserve the Dodgers win.
Joe Ferguson had three hits including his 4th home run and took home Player of the Game honors.
Rick Wise took the loss. He allowed 4 runs over 7 innings.
The Dodgers even their record at 13-13, while the Cardinals fall to 8-14.
