 May 4, 1973 - Monday's 1st inning blast sets the tone!

Rick Monday clubbed a two run homer in the first, and Joe Pepitone's rbi grounder along with Ron Santo's sac fly in the fifth provided sufficient offense for the Cubs to beat the Giants 4-2.
Fergie Jenkins scattered 10 hits over 9 innings and recorded his 3rd win against two defeats.
Juan Marichal continued to be victimized by bad baseball, dropping to 1-5 on the season with just two earned runs over seven innings.
Willie McCovey hit his 4th home run and stole a base for the Giants.
