May 3, 1973 - Cardenal's 9th Inning Home Run pushes Cubs past Dodgers!

Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the eighth, Manny Mota doubled and Willie Davis singled him home to give the Dodgers a 4-3.
It was not enough, though, as Pete Richert gave up a two out, 2-run home run to Jose Cardenal in the top of the 9th to put the Cubs up 5-4. The Cubbies added an insurance run when Rick Monday's pinch hit double plated Don Kessinger, who walked following Cardenal's homer.
Bob Locker, who gave up the ghost in the 8th, shut down the Dodger bats in the 9th to back into his first win of the season.
